Visit to Mona's Garden
Entry Requirements: 16+
The NZWA invites us for a great horticultural event. Join us and the NZWA for a visit to this award-winning private garden (recently voted ‘Best Back Garden’ by the London Gardens Society), a short walk from Highgate tube (Northern line, High Barnet branch). Over several decades, Mona has turned a long, bare space into a garden of earthly delights including the Corokia national collection and featuring many unusual southern hemisphere and Mediterranean plants – the emphasis of the garden is on texture, shapes and contrasting foliage colour so it is a delight in any season.
Entered via steps and passing the greenhouse with a sedum roof, there are borders, a bog area, a plateau and a mound, each with its own style of planting. I hope this is enough of an introduction to tempt you but for more detail, please visit Mona’s website at www.monasgarden.co.uk.
This is a free event but please bring a fiver with you to make a donation to the maintenance of the garden. While we plan to meet at the garden at 14:00, If you would like to join us beforehand for lunch at the nearby Woodman pub (414 Archway Road, London N6 5UA), right next to Highgate tube, at midday, 12.00pm, that would be great. If there is sufficient interest, we will book a table (or two) at the pub for the group. If you plan to join us for lunch, please email Jenny Meagher on Jennifer.meagher@hotmail.com so we have an idea of numbers.
If you are not joining us for lunch, we will see you at the entrance to the garden at 14:00.
Exclusive FREE event for NZ Society Members. Registration is compulsory.
